Spalding Flower Parade 2000
As we hit the New Millennium, the Spalding Flower parade took theme of 'Hopes, Dreams and Innovations' in the year 2000. The parade took place on Saturday 29th April and left Springfields at 2.00pm. This year was the first year for organiser, Mr David Norton. Unusually, most of the floats were on display on the Sunday at Springfields but a couple remained on display at the Sir Halley Stewart field in town.
The 2000 Flower Queen was Alison Reed and her deputy was Georgina Clist. They were both chosen from 18 girls who entered the competition. As part of their prize, both girls spent a week in the twin town of Speyer in Germany and the Flower Queen went to Jersey in August to take part in the Battle of Flowers parade.
2000 FLOWER PARADE PROGRAMME (coming soon)

The local churches entered a float 'Churches Together', featuring floral bears and a large cake. The NFU float featured a huge bee 'Bee wise - buy British'. Surfleet village's entry was a floral carriage pulled by two horses.
